Our Story

As a respected healthcare and insurance journalist for nearly 25 years, Christopher J. Gearon has turned complex issues into understandable topics for readers of The Washington Post, AARP and other well-respected organizations. His passion is helping consumers understand how to better care for themselves and save money.

As healthcare costs have skyrocketed in recent years, Gearon has been busy alerting consumers how to use increasingly complex health plans and get affordable quality care. But Gearon saw that even as health plans have pushed more costs and responsibility to consumers, no one was helping consumers make sense of the confusion. Health plans, employers, health care providers weren’t doing an adequate job.

Without helping individuals learn to become better healthcare consumers, the status quo would hold: employers paying more for health insurance and getting less in return, workers getting frustrated, and patients having a hard time navigating a confusing healthcare system.

It was clear to Gearon that as consumers took on more responsibility they needed clear and trustworthy information to make good decisions. The average person didn’t take classes on how to choose health insurance, navigate the complex healthcare system or be a healthcare consumer.

Gearon started HealthKnowledge so that employers and healthcare organizations can provide their workers and patients with the clear and straightforward information needed to make sense of it all.

With HealthKnowledge, employers, consumers and others paying for healthcare can finally get their money’s worth. See how HealthKnowledge can help you.
